Engine Parts G4NB 1.8L Gasoline Motor For Hyundai Elantra i30 Kia Cerato Car Accessory

The 1.8-liter Hyundai G4NB engine was produced at the Ulsan plant from 2010 to 2016 and was installed only on a few popular models, such as the Elantra and Cerato Forte. In 2013, the production of the motor was transferred to China, where it was put on the local Mistra model.

In 2010, Hyundai-Kia introduced a new line of gasoline engines with the Nu index, which consisted of engines of 1.8 and 2.0 liters, differing only in the piston stroke. By design, this is a classic motor for that time with an aluminum cylinder block, an aluminum 16-valve cylinder head with hydraulic compensators, a timing chain drive, MPi distributed fuel injection, and CVVT phase shifters on two camshafts. The unit also received a plastic intake manifold with a VIS geometry change system.

All the most serious problems of the engine were due to the peculiarities of its design: the aluminum block of the unit with an open cooling jacket and thin cast-iron liners did not have high rigidity, which eventually led to an ellipse of cylinders and an oil burner. Too close the location of the catalytic converter to the engine block often results in crumbs of the collapsing catalyst getting into the combustion chambers and the appearance of scoring in the cylinders.

The Nu family includes engines: G4NB, G4NA, G4NC, G4ND, G4NE, G4NH, G4NG, G4NL, G4NN.
